Interact

Each year we work with Interact through the Thistle Foundation.  This is a drama based project which help our learners explore their anxieties related to moving on from school.  Through participation in Interact, the young people are then invited to attend the Big Plan which helps them plan for the future.  Working with the Thistle Foundation can lead to invaluable opportunities and support for the young people, including independent travel training and opportunities for social interaction. This support is also offered after leaving school.

Prince’s Trust

We also work with the Prince’s Trust who offer amazing opportunities.  Recently we have attended their Industry Days at various work locations, e.g. Ikea, Amazon, Murrayfield Stadium and Hilton Hotels.  The Prince’s Trust also gave us the opportunity to work with “Into Film”.  Through this involvement we were nominated for an award an attended the Filmhouse Film Festival.

Skills Path

We also work closely with Skills Path.  They provide training opportunities for our senior learners.  Some young people work with skills path at Craiglockhart Café and the All Together Charity Shop on Leith Walk.  During their placement with Skills Path the learner works towards gaining Borders College certificates in either Food Handling or Retail Skills.
