Welcome

Welcome to our Woodlands website where you will find information about our school, how we work, our incredible learners and staff.  In May 2025 we undertook work to review our school vision, values and aims and I am delighted with how our whole school community collaborated and discussed our work at Woodlands and what we need to do to ensure we give our learners the best education on offer.  I have included our renewed vision, values and aims for you to read and hope you agree that this is very appropriate and rightly ambitious vision for our school community.

Our school is situated in Currie, which is in the southwest area of Edinburgh; we have a roll of 88 young people who are aged between 12-18 years of age.  We have 11 classes and each class is capped at a maximum of 8 learners.  Since October 2023, our school moved to a class-based model of education, so all of our young people have a base class teacher who will delivers the majority of their learning each day.  In addition to this we have 5 subject specialist teachers who deliver Music, Art, PE, Home Ecconomics and Outdoor Learning.

We have a team of highly skilled Pupil Support Workers (PSW) who work very closely with

Rhoda MacDougall
       Head Teacher

our teaching staff to ensure that our young people are able to engage in learning across each day at school.

We pride ourselves on the excellent relationships we build within our Woodlands community as this helps us to ensure we are effective in engaging with our learners, families and colleagues to give our young people the best learning opportunities available.  I hope you enjoy this website and if you would like to know more about us please get in touch, or better still come visit us!
